Please evaluate the FAIR Web site by answering the questions below.  Answer the questions in complete sentences.  The answers cannot all be found on the front page of the Web site.  You need to click on the links on the left side of the site (Doing Research?, About FAIR, etc) and on the bottom of the site (FAQs, etc).  Answers may be spread out over 2 or more pages of the site.

 

 

1. Content: What types of information does the site contain?  What specific issues does the site address? 

 

 organization that suggestes that the immagration ploicys should be changed.  gives people info on what they can do, and what the current immagration policys are.  has many many different immagration issues listed. 

 

 

2. Currency: Is the information on the site up to date?  How do you know?

 

 yes because the fron page artical is from march 12th 2008

 

 

3. Purpose: What is the purpose of FAIR?  What are its principles?

 

 their purpouse is to change the current immagration policys.  they have seven principles: cut the number of immarents, stricter laws, protect wages and standards of living, update interior inforcment, stop special intrest aslyumn abuse, restore moderation to legal immagration, and equal under law. 

 

 

4. Reliability & Accuracy: Can you rely on the information on this site?  Why or why not?  Where does the site gets its information?  Is there a list of references?  Are the sources cited?  Is FAIR used by other sources?  What do those other sources say about FAIR?

 

 yes, becaus eit is certifyes by the better busness burrow wise giving allience.  it gets its info by notible experts in immagration issues.  it cites its sources on the doing reserch? page and quots library page.   

 

 

5. Authority: Who are some people on the board of directors of FAIR?  Who are the media experts?  What are their credentials?  Do any of them have careers related to immigration?

 

 Nancy S. Anthony, Chairman Sharon, Barnes Edith Blodgett, Henry M. Buhl, Major General Douglas E. Caton, Ret Pat Choate, Donald A. Collins,  Sarah G. Epstein, Stephen B. Swensrud, John Tanton, M.D. Alan Weeden are all on the board of directors.  Dan Stein, Jack Martin, Ira Mehlman, and Bob Dane are all the media experts.  Stein was executive director of the Immigration Reform Law Institute, Martin was a U.S. diplomate before the U.S. comishion on immagration reform.  Mehlam was special assisten to Gov. Lamm

 

6. Point of View: Look back to question 3, purpose.  Does FAIR have a biased or un-biased viewpoint?  Is FAIR trying to persuade you to think one way or another?  If so, what is it trying to make you think?

 

 

 

 

7. Ease of use: Is the site easy to navigate?  Could you quickly and easily find what you were looking for?

 

 

 

 

8. Relevancy: You are probably not actually using this site in your research paper, so you cannot evaluate its relevancy to your thesis.  How could this site be used in a paper on immigration reform?
